Gameboy LinkNLoad32 USB Flash Cart (4MB ROM, 128KB FRAM)

The Gameboy LinkNLoad32 is a flash cart which features a Micro-USB port so you can re-program it anywhere you go as long as you have a USB cable and a computer. You can also backup and restore your saves too. Simply use the LinkNLoad32 GUI or the GBxCart Console interface programs that you might already be familiar with which works with Windows, Linux and Mac.

This is perfect for LSDJ users who want a low power cart (~12mA, running LSDJ consumes a bit more power) with 128KB of FRAM which means no more batteries! Works with regular MBC5 games too and GB Studio MBC5 with saving if you wish to develop your own game.

6 Oct 2020 – A USB-C version is planned, expected in around 3 weeks and will be listed if it works out

This cart works on every Gameboy system – GB, MGB, GBC, GBA, GBA SP and the Game Boy Player. Games that require more than 4MB of ROM won’t work. Check this list of Gameboy games to see the ROM/RAM size and MBC type your game will have.

Comes in a generic clear Gameboy cartridge with a small cut out (originally for an SD cart slot) for the Micro-USB connector. Each unit is assembled in house and is tested on a Gameboy Advance. You can supply the ROM file for us to flash the cart if you like, it will be tested for 20-30 seconds to ensure it works.

Don’t plug in the USB cable if the device in a Gameboy

Normal USB operation method (as of 9 August 2020)
When plugged into your PC, the LED on the board will light up which means it ready to connect. When inserted into a Gameboy, the LED will light up but then turn off after half a second.

Old USB operation method (before 9 August 2020)
The LED on the board will blink when the device is plugged into a USB port if a USB signal is detected within 3 seconds. This means if you plug it in before the CH340 driver is installed correctly or before the operating system has booted, the LED won’t blink and thus you won’t be able to communicate with the cart. This is to reduce power consumption of the cart when in use in a Gameboy.

The PCB finish is ENIG, Gold fingers (on the edge connector) with a 45 degree bevel to give the maximum life for insertion/removal of the cartridge.

When you place an order, if you would like the flash cart to be programmed with a ROM, you need to supply it to us via email (you can reply to your order notification). It will be tested for 20-30 seconds on a Gameboy Advance to ensure it works, if it doesn’t work, we’ll contact you. If you don’t specify a ROM, it will be loaded with LSDJ Stable 8.5.1.
